Transition from University to Work

What is it about?

The transition from university to employment is a major and challenging life event. Graduates often struggle with trying to manage demanding tasks, such as developing necessary work skills, while also trying to maintain supportive social networks. There is often a perceived lack of control and are insecurities associated with the transition from university to work. As a result, graduates may experience a drain on personal resources that can cause severe levels of strain.

Under the heading "TRANSITION FROM UNIVERSITY TO WORK" we currently work on multiple studies that focus on students who will soon enter the workforce. In our studies, we aim to discover the effects of (university) resources on work transitions for graduates. Specifically, we want to provide answers to the questions: Who is at risk of experiencing strain during and after the transition event? What are supportive resources that help maintain well-being? Or, simply put, under which conditions may graduates experience a successful transition into employment?

Furthermore, we are interested in how the effects of the coronacrisis affect graduate students' career-related worries, as well as their career preparation process, and mental health outcomes.
